Coursera: $16 million to Mountain View, CA-based Cousera from Sand Hill Road kings, Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers and New Enterprise Associates. (John Doerr and Scott Sandell will join the board.) Founded by Stanford CS professors Andrew Ng and Daphne Koller (who also taught those free online Stanford courses last year), Coursera has announced a broader range of course offerings, including medicine, literature, and history--in addition to CS, of course. The startup also announced that Berkeley, Stanford, Princeton, UMich and UPenn will host web-based courses on its platform. More from Wall Street Journal.
