A REAL HACK EDUCATION: No, we're not talking about Audrey Watters' blog. It's Dale Stephens, founder of UnCollege and recipient of Thiel's 20-under-20 grant, who's currently writing a book for Penguin, aptly titled Hacking Your Education. Last week he shared some of his experiences with "unschooling" and taking charge of his own education in the NY Times. Certainly not every kid has the sense of direction or deep pockets to seek out mentors, build businesses, and travel around the world. But Dale presents a compelling alternative for those who refuse to accept the drudgery of school as a life prerequisite. "Your life is a field trip--and you don't need a permission slip." Yah!
