Charter'ing a difference: Second in the recent NYT series on education is a piece by that focuses on public schools in Texas trying some of the ideas pioneered in chartered schools, by Sam Dillon. It's exactly the kind of experimentation that needs to happen. Harvard economist, Roland Fryer, who has been outspoken about the lack of data in education for the effort, is helping drive the effort.
