Market growth: Data on the size of the education market is scarce--and as any decent VC will tell you, gargantuan numbers don't impress them. (You gotta break 'em down). That said, here's a juicy starting point: the market for "self-paced learning" materials will reach $32.1 billion in 2010 and $49.9 billion by 2015, a 9.2% five year compound growth rate, reports market research group, Ambient Insight. Cheery thought: revenues once largely from corporate types are now going academic. Here's (literally) the money quote: "The most significant revenue opportunity for suppliers across the planet is the demand for academic content across the educational spectrum from preschool to higher education to vocational training," says Ambient CEO.
