REQUIRED READING: So where does all the money flow in edtech? All edSurgents would do well to comb through GSV Advisor's latest white paper on critical issues in the U.S. education sector: "Fall of the Wall: Capital Flows to Education Innovation" (PDF--requires signup). The report traces back to the last edtech boom in 1999 and follows through the subsequent bust that scared off capital for nearly a decade. Activity slowly picked up in 2007, and the resumption of financing since forecasts sunnier days to come. Chock-full of graphs, tables and surveys of everything from indexed share prices to major VC's edtech portfolios, the report offers perhaps the comprehensive (and digestible) market info we've seen this year.
