MEG-o-BUCKS: Meg Whitman, newly appointed (!) CEO of HP & California governor wannabee, seems to want to make friends with edtech. EdSurge spotted her this summer at a TFA-Stanford d.school shindig. Last week her family foundation has ponied up $500K so that 10 LA schools can use the ST Math software suite from the MIND Research Institute. This week, she plunked down $2.5 million (over five years) to fund the creation of 10 additional Summit charter high schools by 2021, as part of what they've dubbed the "Silicon Valley College Ready Corridor" initiative. A matching $2.5 million "challenge grant" looms on the horizon (provided Silicon Valley locals can donate the same). Bring it on!
