LEVELING UP: "Skills for the digital economy" is how SkilledUp founder Nick Gidwani describes his learning platform, just out of beta yesterday. The New York-based startup offers a search engine for online videos and courses for very specific technical skills. Think of it as DIY professional development. Gidwani tells us that in the future, the platform will drive recommendations and paths, provided by industry professionals who offer milestones and push learners in the right direction. (Hey, sounds a little bit like LearningJar.) "A lot of smart people don't have marketable skills. And employers often don't have the luxury of time to train them. There's a gap for training services to fill that void...and we're helping to fill it," says Gidwani.
