THE GRADES ARE OUT: Stayed tuned today for the release of the National Assessment of Education Progress in Mathematics and Reading, which will detail the progress of fourth- and eighth- graders in these two much-emphasized subjects. For the data miners: the Ed Department is promising a large swath of data--including national/state-level info, racial/ethnic and gender breakdown, background factors related to achievement, and comparisons to results from previous years.
