SUCCESS PUBLIC SCHOOLS: Shout out by Joel Klein to Success Public Schools, New York charter schools that "had 97% of the kids at its four schools proficient in math and 88% in English," wrote Klein in an essay for the Wall Street Journal. He uses those statistics to underscore a point: "I remain convinced that the best cure for poverty is a good education." And one more zinger: "...Pointing to poverty as an excuse for why we fail to properly educate poor kids only serves to condemn more of them to lives of poverty."
