Elizabeth “Betsy” Corcoran brings education’s best ideas to life.
She currently runs Lede Ventures, which focuses on how to use technology to support learning. Previously, she co-founded EdSurge, which rapidly became the leading information hub for teachers, entrepreneurs and school leaders with a commitment to edtech. As CEO of EdSurge, she led the development of an award-winning news team, a robust conference program, in-depth research and job boards. In 2019, she negotiated EdSurge’s successful acquisition by ISTE.
Betsy has received national recognition for her journalism. She has been a staff writer and editor for Scientific American magazine, The Washington Post and Forbes Media. She has been a Fellow in the Knight Science Journalism program at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a featured commentator on television programs including NBC’s “Press Here.”
In 2019, she received ISTE’s “Impact” award, recognizing outstanding work in improving learning and leading the field of education; she’s also been recognized as a “Rock Star of education.” She is a Fellow with the Pahara Institute. She has a B.A. from Georgetown University.
