Call this the theme of the week: Ann Arbor-based XanEdu Publishing said it has raised $8.1 million to build out its corporate learning and development business, which it launched in January. Investors Superior Capital Partners in Detroit and Plymouth Ventures in Ann Arbor contributed to the round. (Superior Capital and Plymouth Ventures led a $4 million round for XanEdu in 2013). XanEdu started in 1999, employs about 70 people and has historically delivered tailored information packages to high ed schools, the K-12 sector and government. CEO John DeBoer told Crain's Detroit Business that the company expects to have $20 million in revenue this fiscal year. XanEdu's expansion into the corporate world began last year with its acquisition of New York-based SharedBook.
