We can't wait for August.
On August 4, in partnership with the California Department of Education and Californians Dedicated to Education, EdSurge will host a special California Tech for Schools Summit especially tailored for the state's 1,100 district superintendents, their curriculum and technology directors and board members.
California State Superintendent, Tom Torlakson, will keynote the conference.
"We're excited about giving all district superintendents in California a chance to explore some of the most innovative education technology opportunities available," says Superintendent Torlakson. "EdSurge's California Summit will help educators connect with technology leaders who may provide them with ideas about how to help get all our schools the technology and connectivity they need to close the digital divide and help all our students succeed.”
The goal of this Summit remains consistent with EdSurge's other events: To foster collaboration and dialogue between thoughtful educators and innovative education technology companies committed to building products that foster learning.
Two leading thinkers on blended learning will also take part in this Summit: Michael Horn, cofounder of the Clayton Christensen Institute and co-author of Blended: Using Disruptive Innovation to Improve Schools and Palo Alto High School teacher and international speaker, Esther Wojcicki, co-author of Moonshots in Education: Launching Blended Learning in the Classroom, will also join to discuss their perspectives on technology in school.
Much of the focus on the day will be on hands-on interaction and engagement between edtech leaders and educators, with an emphasis on building partnerships, providing candid feedback.
With its partners, EdSurge is assembling an outstanding team of California educators who will advise on the final selection of the companies and additional themes that will be discussed during the day.
Companies interested in taking part in the Summit should start here. Applications are due by June 8.
Superintendents and their teams--including board members-- can reserve their spots here.
