DOWN WITH DOUBLE BOOKING. Civitas Learning, an Austin-based predictive analytics platform for higher education institutions, made one of its first big moves following its $60 million funding round last September. The company acquired College Scheduler, a cloud-based planning and scheduling platform. Civitas will integrate the solution into its Student Insights Platform, to include scheduling and registration.
Signing up for classes can be a headache for students and administrators alike. The company says it hopes the solution will help full-time students and nontraditional learners overcome time-management challenges that are often a barrier to retention and graduation. “Streamlining class scheduling can help level the playing field for all students, enabling them to focus first on learning and achieving their goals, not making their class schedule work,” Civitas Founder and CEO Charles Thornburgh said in a press release. Civitas Learning’s products are currently used on nearly 900 campuses. College Scheduler will keep its 15 employees and offices in Chico, Calif.
