Amazon Pumps More Than a Half Million Dollars into Coding Education in Canada

Aug 2, 2018

DONATING TO CODE: Amazon has donated $525,000 to Canada Learning Code, a nonprofit that seeks to teach people digital literacy skills.

Melissa Sariffodeen, CEO of Canada Learning Code, tells EdSurge that the funds will be used for three main initiatives for K-12 learners: an annual week-long event to celebrate coding in Canada, the development of a national framework for computer science education and the Code Mobile, a traveling truck that aims to bring coding to kids. She adds that while there are Code Mobiles across Canada, the money will specifically support the one based in Vancouver.
