Edlio, a Los Angeles-based provider of tools for K-12 web design, parent communication and content management system, has bought Online School Management System, or OSMS, a Sterling, Va.-based online K-12 payments and receipting provider. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Edlio made the purchase to add online payments to its product suite, according to a statement Tuesday.
Founded in 2011, Edlio claims it serves 10,000 school and district websites in North America. It raised $40 million in 2016 and in 2017 bought parent interaction app Sangha and school web developer Scholantis.
Founded in 2000, OSMS claims it is used in over 5,000 schools and nine of the 25 largest U.S. school districts. Its tools focus on school activity funds, internal funds and associated student body funds.
Other recent transactions in the school payments business include private equity firm Reverence Capital Partners’ purchase of Blackboard’s Transact division, Connexeo’s $110 million fundraise last year and CareMonkey’s $1.5 million raise this year.
