SHL, a Thames Ditton, England-based provider of employee assessments and certification training among other services, has agreed to buy Aspiring Minds, a similar company based in Gurgaon, India. Terms of the deal, which is expected to close in November, were not disclosed. The Economic Times reports that the cash deal was between $80 million and $100 million.
Founded in 1977, SHL made the purchase to add more products to its portfolio, according to a statement Tuesday. SHL has 10,000-plus customers, including startups and multinational companies. It delivers 30 million assessments in 150 countries a year. Among its clients are Microsoft, Bristol-Myers Squibb and Bombardier.
Founded in 2008, Aspiring Minds has more than 3,000 customers worldwide, including more than 100 global Fortune 500 companies. It evaluates more than five million candidates a year. Customers include Hyundai, Deloitte and Philips. Its assessments include thousands of validated questions for hundreds of job roles and skills.
Both companies have experience with acquisitions. Aspiring Minds bought online and mobile internship placement platform LetsIntern in 2015. SHL bought employee assessment company PreVisor in 2011.
