Perlego, a London-based provider of a streaming service for educational books, has raised 7 million pounds (about $9 million) in a Series A round. Charlie Songhurst, Dedicated VC and Thomas Leysen participated. Existing investors ADV, Simon Franks and Alex Chesterman provided further financing. This brings the company’s total amount raised to date to about $15 million.
Founded in 2016, Perlego will use the money to improve its non-English content and expand into European markets, according to a statement Tuesday. The company claims to provide access to more than 250,000 digital books from more than 2,300 publishers with a monthly subscription of 12 pounds (about $16).
Other reading subscription services to raise money this year include Epic.
